Overview:
The Software Center contains software downloads for University approved software. It is available to RU faculty and staff for their university computers. These instructions are for Windows machines only.

Search for “software center” on your machine.

In Windows 10
Type software in the search box and open Software Center to start the program.

In Windows 8
Click the Start Button in the bottom left of your screen or press the Windows key on your keyboard to open the Start Screen. In the Start Screen, begin typing “software center.” A search box should show up on the right with Software Center as one of the options, if not first. Click Software Center to start the program.

Under the Available Software tab, check the software you would like to install onto your machine and then click Install Selected on the bottom right of the window.

The selected program(s) will begin the downloading and installation process, which will take some time.

Once the installation is finished, “Installed” will display under the status for the completed installation. If you are installing multiple programs at once, wait for all programs to display the “Installed” status.

You may now close out of the Software Center window after the installation, and your program(s) should be available for use on your computer now.

Note: If you do not see the software you want, click on the “Find additional applications from the Application Catalog, and follow the steps below:

At the next screen, click the program you wish to install. If the software requires approval to install, click REQUEST at the bottom right of the screen.

NOTE: If you are not using IE as your browser, this screen will show as a blank screen. To access it from another browser, you will need to copy and paste the URL you see at the top of the screen: http://sccm/CMApplicationCatalog/

In a couple of days, go back to this screen to check the status of your request. If the Requires Approval is now set to No, you can follow the steps above to install your software.
