Virtual Computer Lab using AppStream 2.0 (PC, MAC and iPad)
To access software that is typically only available in the campus computer labs, Radford University has established a Virtual Computer Lab.
Computer Lab Software Access: Students may use a web browser (Chrome recommended) to access the Virtual Computer Lab (www.radford.edu/remote-software), which provides remote access to most software packages found in campus computer labs. This environment is based on Amazon Web Service (AWS) AppStream 2.0 and scales up and down based on student demand. There is a two-minute wait time when you connect. Students will need to establish a connection to their Office 365 OneDrive space during each connection to the virtual lab and be sure files are saved to their OneDrive space when using the virtual lab.
NOTE: You must map your OneDrive account every time you connect to AppStream in order to save files.
1. Connect to Appstream by clicking the image below, and choose your application to get started.
2. The virtual session will take approximately 2 minutes to start.
3. Setup OneDrive for saving files.
A. Click the My Files icon
B. Click Add Storage
C. Click OneDrive, sign in with credentials
D. Click Accept
E. Click OneDrive
F. Click Files
NOTE: Wait for OneDrive to show below My Files location. Be sure to save files in your OneDrive folder. Do not store files on the Desktop or Temporary Files folder as those files will be deleted when your session ends.
Once mapped, you'll have access to your entire OneDrive account and may create folders for classes, projects, etc.
Google is the recommended browser.
To end your virtual session click Profile and End Session from the toolbar in the AppStream environment:
