This guide was created to help new user’s orient themselves within SendSecure. This guide will go over the following: The basic layout of SendSecure regarding Users, Groups and group boxes; How to send a message via SendSecure as an individual; And how to send a message via SendSecure from a group box.
Before proceeding with this guide, ensure you have an account created in SendSecure. If you do not have an account, please fill out an Admin Access Request form and wait until the Identity and Access Management (IAM) team creates your account. You can that form on Radford’s website and searching for “Administrative Systems Access Request”. If you only need to send documents to a person/office inside the university, you do not need SendSecure access. For further information on how to send documents, please visit the Radford University website and search for “Secure Document Exchange”.
Users, Groups and Group Boxes
A user account is created within SendSecure by the IAM team once they receive a completed Admin Access Request form. Once created, an email is sent to the new user’s university email address. Once a user is present in SendSecure they can begin to send and receive messages securely without any further steps.
Groups are created by the IAM team on an as-needed basis. It is unlikely that the IAM team will create a new group unless there is a demonstrable business need for the new group. Users are placed inside groups, which can allow them access to group boxes. If there is a demonstrable business need, a user can be put inside multiple groups.
Typically, Groups are only assigned to one Group Box and vice versa. Every user in a Group can access all conversations sent from a Group Box. For this reason, it is very important for users to utilize proper discretion when deciding to send a message from a Group box or as an individual.
