Outlook: Enabling Focused Inbox


Overview:

This article reviews how to enable Focused Inbox, which allows for important email messages to be separated from other messages.

Note: These instructions are applicable for New Outlook or Outlook online.

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Select View, then View Settings

  1. In the Setting menu, select Mail and Layout.
  2. Select the button in front of Sort Messages into Focused and Other.
  3. Click Save.

  1. The Focused and Other tabs will appear at the top of your Inbox.

If you want to move a message from one tab to the other:

  1. Right click on the message
  2. Click on Move.
  3. Then, you can select Move to Focused/Other or Always Move to Focused/Other.

Note: If you select Always Move to Focused/Other all future messages will go to the tab selected.
