D2L:  Visibility Settings (Faculty/Staff)

Overview:

In D2L there is an option to hide or share certain information as the instructor deems necessary. The following can be made hidden (and later revealed):  files, modules, quizzes, discussions, certain links, assignments, and much more. Depending on how the information or activity is presented, this option can be found either during or after creating content either in the Content tab or a specific activity tab.

Hiding/Revealing Already Existing Material while on the Content Tab

  1. Navigate to your course homepage and click on Content to view your course layout.

  1. Under this tab, there will be one of two ways to hide or reveal information from student view.

      1. You may see an eye that is open or an open eye that has a slash over it; these images are both visibility eye icons.  An open eye        with no slash means the content is visible while an open eye with a slash on it means the content is not visible, it is hidden.  If          you click on the visibility eye icon it will change the visibility of that content.

                           b. If you do not see the visibility eye icon at all for a particular piece of content, click on the down arrow next to the content title you                                   want to change the visibility status of and select either Hide from Users or Make Visible to Users.

NOTE:  If you want to view any page as a student or a different role you can look at this article about how to change your view of your D2L course – D2L How to View a Page as a Student.  This will allow you to make sure students only see what you want them to.
